THE BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH ME

(and the services that I offer)

WE ALL NEED A WEBSITE

All small and medium businesses need a website and an online presence these days, but most don’t have the technical knowledge, expertise or time to even know where to start. Using an agency is usually very expensive, and most freelancers lack all those other vital project management, writing and communication skills that are needed to pull everything together. That’s where someone like me comes in.

ALL IN ONE SOLUTION

To put it simply, I design, build and manage websites for small and medium sized businesses. From my base in South London and I provide what is essentially an all-in-one website solution for companies based in the UK. From learning about your business at the start, through gathering and writing up all the content, to designing, building, hosting, updating and expanding your website, I take care of it all so that you can concentrate on what you do best.

SERVICE 2ND TO NONE

In an agency environment, you’d likely be pushed around departments, speaking to lots of different people and getting pretty confused along the way, whereas the advantage of working with me is – it’s my mobile number that you get and it’s me who you speak to. I’m not set to specific working hours and I can be available to help daytime, evenings and at weekends. Plus I use UK based fully managed infrastructure and market leading tools.

AFFORDABLE FEES

Because I work for myself, my fees are much more competitive because I don’t have all the expensive agency overheads or profit margins to meet. I estimate based on either my daily rate or my hourly rate depending on the size of the project, and for snippet updates I price down into 10-minute chucks of time – plus I always itemise how your money is being spent for transparency. Some clients think of me as a sub-contractor that’s brought in to carry out a specialist job, while others think of me as an extended member of the team.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

(from golfer to web designer)

AMBITIONS OF BEING A GOLFER

You may be mistaken for thinking I come from a web development or creative background, but I actually started out with very different ambitions. Through my childhood and into my mid-twenties, I endeavoured to compete on the world stage at the game of golf. A physical talent resulted in a reasonable amateur career, but shortly after turning professional, the realization of a tough travelling lifestyle brought my playing ambitions to an end.

TRANSITION INTO WORKING LIFE

I transitioned into working life as a golf analyst, consulting to tour professionals and organisations, and even spent a year as a tour golf caddy, but again the travelling lifestyle ended that. I also tried my hand as a salesman but that didn’t fit with my personality either. My intro to IT was through a vision to build the world’s most powerful golf stats system. It was a huge leap into technology that gave me invaluable experience from the consumer side of the industry.

BECOMING A WEB DESIGNER

Over time my IT interests continued, specifically in designing and building websites, to the point in 2010 that I began taking on small projects myself. I formed a strong relationship with the team from Logibase Ltd (the developers that built the golf stats system), and with their support, I was able to evolve my skills as an all-round website designer and project manager. Nowadays, with a very supportive family behind me, I run my own web design business.
